How to Change the Number Plate Lights to LED on Peugeot 3008/5008 (and Citroen)

On the Peugeot 3008/5008, the number plate lights are housed in the tailgate. To replace the bulbs with LEDs, open the tailgate and locate the two light units, recessed at the top of the number plate. Using a flat screwdriver or a plastic tool, lever to remove the cover: the bulbs are secured with small clips. Remove the old incandescent bulb (W5W) and insert the LED (preferably with an integrated resistor or 'canbus-ready' to avoid the bulb failure message). Refit the cover by pressing until you hear a click. Repeat on the other side. The LED consumes less, lasts longer, and provides better illumination. If the 'bulb failure' warning remains on, you may need an LED with an additional resistor or reset the ECU with diagnostics.
