How to Change the Air Filter on a Peugeot 308

To replace the engine air filter on a Peugeot 308, work with the engine off and preferably cold, with the car on level ground and the handbrake engaged. Open the bonnet and locate the air filter box in the engine compartment: it is a plastic container connected to the intake pipe. Once you find the box, clear access by removing any covers that obstruct the lid. Depending on the version, the lid may be held by clips or screws: detach or unscrew just enough to lift the lid without forcing it. Carefully lift the lid and pull out the old filter, taking care not to let dirt or leaves fall into the airbox or towards the intake. Before inserting the new filter, clean the inside of the box and especially the seating area (a cloth or compressed air can be used cautiously, without pushing debris into the duct). Insert the new filter, ensuring it is oriented correctly and sits properly on all sides without folds. Close the box by repositioning the lid, then reattach the clips or screws until securely closed (without overtightening to avoid stripping the plastic). Close the bonnet and, on the first start, check that the engine runs smoothly and that there are no vibrations or abnormal leaks from the filter box.
