This Peugeot model features an electric handbrake that engages automatically when the vehicle is turned off and disengages automatically during the start-up phase. There is also a button for manual operation located just behind the gear lever. If this button gets damaged, it needs replacing. Start by removing the chrome trim around the centre console that surrounds the gear lever to access the base of the handbrake button. This allows you to release the retaining tabs and extract it from its housing. Finally, disconnect the connector by rotating the bayonet locking mechanism.
