How to repair the air conditioning fan in the Renault Kangoo

In this video we will see how to repair the air conditioning fan in the Renault Kangoo: in this case the fan only works at maximum speed, while the intermediate speeds do not respond, which is a typical problem of the resistor module. We will need a cross-head screwdriver, a soldering iron, a thin copper wire, pliers, and a cutter. Remove the windshield seal and the plastic cover under the hood (passenger side). The module we are looking for is a small metal box near the fan motor, with two electrical connectors. Disconnect the connectors and remove the fixing screw. We find the burnt thermal fuse, while the resistors are intact. Bridge the fuse using the copper wire, soldering a bridge between the two points of the burnt fuse: this is a temporary repair. The fuse exists to protect the circuit. Test by reconnecting the module without reassembling and trying all speeds. If it works, reposition the module in its housing, reassemble the plastic cover and the seal. The definitive solution is to replace the entire module with a new one (about 80 euros). If the fuse burns out often, check the fan motor, which may be worn out and drawing too much current. The fan should be cleaned occasionally; dust could obstruct the airflow, overheating the module. Do not use the system for a long time with this temporary repair: the copper bridge does not offer protection against short circuits!
