How to Replace the CV Joints on a 1979 Renault R14

Let’s see how to replace the CV joints (driveshafts) of the front axle on a Renault R14: safely lift the car and place it on axle stands, then remove the wheel. With an assistant pressing the brake pedal, loosen the brake nuts. Remove the brake caliper, hanging it from the shock absorber; disconnect the stabiliser bar link and the essential joints: the lower suspension ball joint and the steering joint. To detach the stuck taper joints, tap the mounting seat with a hammer to pop the ball joint out of its seat. Once disconnected, the entire assembly can be extracted: be careful as it will lose oil. To reinsert the new parts into the gearbox, the YouTuber uses a trick: gently lever with a screwdriver to slide the driveshaft into its housing, then slightly lift the arm with a jack to help it enter fully. Tighten all nuts and bolts securely, then move to the other side. A good mechanical knowledge is necessary for this job, and it would be ideal to have the workshop manual for the correct torque values.
