Basic service consists of simply changing the engine oil and oil filter, without any other interventions. Here’s how to do it on a Renault Megane 4. To facilitate draining the oil sump, unscrew the oil filler cap before going under the car to remove the lower protection panel.

Next, drain the oil sump and remove the oil filter to replace the cartridge and seal. After refitting the sump and reinstalling the filter, you can put the protection panel back and return to the engine bay to add the new engine oil.
