How to Change the Engine Oil and Filter in a Renault Megane

To replace the engine oil and filter in a Renault Megane II, start by warming up the engine to operating temperature to thin the lubricant, then turn off the vehicle and safely lift it on a stable surface. Position a catch basin under the sump and unscrew the drain plug to allow the used oil to completely drain out. Once draining is complete, refit the plug, checking the condition of the gasket and replacing it if necessary. Next, remove the oil filter: unscrew it from its housing using the appropriate tool and ensure to remove any remnants of the previous O-ring. Before fitting the new filter, lightly lubricate the gasket with clean oil, then screw it in by hand until it is snug without overtightening. Pour the new lubricant through the filler neck, adhering to the specifications and quantity recommended by the manufacturer, then start the engine for a few seconds to allow the oil to circulate. Turn off the engine, wait a few minutes, and check the level with the dipstick, topping up if necessary and ensuring there are no leaks around the filter and drain plug.
