Instructions for Cleaning the MAF Sensor or Mass Air Flow Meter

The mass air flow meter, or MAF sensor, measures the volume of air drawn into the engine, which the engine management unit uses to control the amount of fuel to inject; since its operation is based on the variation of an electrical resistance, if this becomes contaminated, it will provide incorrect information to the unit, compromising engine performance and efficiency. This device is located just after the air filter housing: to remove it, simply disconnect it from the respective inlet and outlet ducts and then clean the resistance with brake cleaner spray: do not use brushes or pins to scrape off deposits!
