As you can see in this tutorial, replacing the gear knob on the Skoda Fabia MK1 is an extremely simple and quick operation. First, grip the lower edge of the gaiter, then pull it upwards and unclip it from the base. Next, turn the gaiter inside out, loosen the metal retaining ring of the knob, and pull the knob firmly towards you to separate it from the shaft. At this point, you can attach the gaiter to the new knob, securing it with a plastic tie if the metal ring was damaged during the operation, and reassemble everything by following the reverse procedure.
