How do you remove the tailgate of a Smart Fortwo to repair the lock? Follow this guide: release and lower the tailgate of your car. Using a socket spanner, remove the securing pins located on both sides (where the support cables are connected). Remove the plastic cover on the tailgate of the boot, disconnect any power connectors. Remove the faulty lock and refit a new one. Reverse the process to reassemble the plastics and associated parts.
