How to replace gearbox oil on Smart Fortwo W450

Model: Smart Smart 450 - Years 1998-2007
Part: Transmission fluid

Replacing the gearbox oil on Smart Fortwo W450 is a fairly simple operation which however requires the use of a lift or four stands, this is because the car will have to be raised to access the lower part but it will have to remain in flat position for the entire duration of the operation. After lifting the car making sure that it is in a flat position, you will have access to the gearbox, this will be positioned in the rear part of the car and will be easily recognizable by the drive shafts connected to it. On the gearbox there will be two plugs, the first for loading in the upper part and the second for unloading in the lower part, these can be unscrewed only after having positioned a tray for collecting the oil under the gearbox. After removing the plugs, the used oil must be allowed to drain for about ten minutes until it has stopped flowing. Once all the oil has been drained, the drain plug can be put back in place and the new oil can be inserted, the latter will be inserted from the filling hole in the upper part and a large syringe will be needed to carry out this operation. as the hole will be placed in a hostile area in a vertical position. During the filling phase, the oil will come out of the filler cap, which will indicate the right level of oil inside the gearbox. At this point it will be possible to put the filler cap back on and the car will be able to get off the bridge or any trestles.

How to Replace the Engine Air Filter on a Volkswagen Polo

Remove the engine air filter from a Volkswagen Polo: open the car door, pull up the engine compartment release lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard and lift the front bonnet, securing it with the prop rod. Remove the engine soundproofing panel (if necessary), then open the air box (unscrew the securing screws), remove the cover of the filter box and take out the engine air filter. Insert a new filter into the dedicated housing (ensuring it fits snugly around the edges). Finally, refit the air box cover and tighten the screws. Close the front bonnet after maintenance.
