How to Change the Gearbox Oil of the Smart Fortwo 451

To change the gearbox oil of the Smart Fortwo 451, proceed (with the engine warm) as follows: Go to the rear under the car, where you will find the gearbox, and on the left side at the top, you will see the oil filler cap, while on the right side at the bottom is the oil drain plug. Start by unscrewing the oil filler cap with an 8mm hex key, using a spanner (a 17mm spanner was used in the video), then unscrew the oil drain plug with an 8mm hex key, placing a container underneath (be careful as the oil may be hot), clean the plug and its seating, remove the oil filler cap, pour 250ml of new oil through the bottle spout so that the old oil drains out, once all the oil is drained, clean the drain area by spraying oil cleaner, clean the drain plug and screw it back in tightly. Finally, pour new oil into the filler hole until it overflows from the filler hole, then screw the cap back on, clean everything by spraying oil cleaner, and the operation is complete.
