How to remove the steering wheel airbag from the Smart 451?

To remove the steering wheel airbag from the Smart 451, detach the plastic covers located at the bottom of the steering column: this will allow you to disconnect the underlying connectors and also unscrew the screws at the back of the steering wheel. This will enable you to completely remove the steering wheel, allowing access to the screws that secure the rear plastic panel: by removing this panel, you can unscrew the additional screws securing the airbag. Finally, the airbag will be removed and replaced with a new one.
