How to Remove the Lambda Sensor from a Smart 450?

To replace the lambda sensor on a Smart 450, open the rear hatch so you can detach the carpet located immediately behind the seats. Once the carpet is removed, you will also need to detach the underlying panel to access the components below. The lambda sensor is located directly behind the coolant reservoir: the part can be replaced by disconnecting the connector and unscrewing the bolt that secures it. After removing the old sensor, you can install the new one.
