Disabling the airbag in a vehicle is a procedure that should only be carried out in specific situations, such as when installing a child seat. The airbag deactivation system may vary depending on the year of manufacture of your Smart, but generally, the device remains fairly close. First, locate the button or key lock with the airbag symbol inside your Smart. You will usually find it near the glove compartment on the passenger side or to the left of the steering wheel. If it's a button, simply press OFF; otherwise, insert the car key and turn it one notch.
