To remove the rear light on a Smart 453, lift the tailgate to access the small side screws that secure the light within its housing. These screws must be loosened so that the corresponding light can be extracted from its housing. To completely remove it, you will also need to disconnect the connector at the back: connect the new light unit to this, so it can then be inserted into its housing, securing it with the appropriate screws.
