When the airbag warning light appears on the instrument cluster of the Smart, it indicates a generic malfunction in the airbag system: to deactivate the light, ensure that the fuse, wiring, and detonation sensors are intact. Once you have checked the integrity of these components, proceed to reset the error by clearing it from the ECU memory: connect a scanner to the OBD port of the vehicle, located under the steering column.
