How to Deactivate the Passenger Airbag on a Smart Forfour

To deactivate the passenger airbag on a Smart Forfour, turn on the ignition. You will see the "passenger airbag ON and OFF" icons. In this case, the ON icon is illuminated. In some versions, the deactivation button is located inside the glove compartment, but in this model, it is on the outer edge of the dashboard. There is a key with ON/OFF positions. The button/dial should be set to ON. Simply press it while turning it to OFF. To check, turn on the instrument panel and you will see the warning light indicating "passenger airbag OFF."
