How to solve the problem of a stuck key on the Smart Fortwo

In this video we see how to solve the problem of the key that is stuck in the ignition lock of the Smart Fortwo and cannot move or come out. The only movement it can make is to turn the engine on and off, but it does not come out of the lock. We dismantle the steering column body, and identify, under the lock, a square metal piece with a blue coil. By dismantling that, which is held in place with three screws on the key lock, without obviously removing the electrical connection that remains attached, we manage to unlock the key which now enters and exits, while still being able to turn the engine on and off.
