When the maintenance light on your Smart Fortwo remains lit even after the car service, you need to manually reset the light. First, ensure that the ignition is off when you start the procedure, then turn on the ignition and simultaneously press the small button located at the bottom left of the dashboard twice in quick succession.

At this point, hold down the same button used previously and wait a few seconds. Finally, release the button as soon as the reset is complete and turn off the ignition.
