Installing Upgraded Brake Discs

Model: Subaru Impreza MK 2 - Years 2001-2007

Lift the vehicle onto a ramp or suitable axle stands and remove the rear wheel. Use a C-clamp to retract the piston of the brake caliper to facilitate removal. Then, unscrew the caliper fixing bolts located at the rear, remove the caliper, and extract the old pads and retaining springs. At this point, unscrew the fixing bolts of the caliper bracket and remove it. Then, pull the brake disc from the hub (just slide it off by pulling it forward).
Since you are installing a larger diameter disc, it is necessary to remove the protective cover of the disc on the hub: using a suitable diameter bit, grind off the heads of the rivets securing the cover and remove it. Now, apply the new disc to the hub, adjusting the opening of the shoes using the appropriate adjusting screw. Install the new caliper bracket, apply the retaining springs, and then the new pads. Finally, mount the caliper and the wheel.
