Replacing the Rocker Cover Gasket

Model: Subaru Legacy BD, MK 2, BG, BK - Years 1993-1998
Part: Cylinder head

To remove the first rocker cover, first remove the air filter cover along with the intake duct housing the mass air flow sensor. Once disassembled, access the fixing pins of the rocker cover: unscrew the pins and remove the cover (you will notice oil seepage along the edges). Remove the old gasket and clean the cover thoroughly before inserting the new one. In addition to the gasket along the edge, the oil seals through which the fixing pins pass must also be replaced. Once the replacement is complete, reposition the cover in its place and tighten the fixing pins. To remove the other cover, first remove the battery and proceed in the same way.
