To adjust the handbrake on a Suzuki Vitara, use a tool to lever off the trim that completely surrounds the centre tunnel. Then, proceed to remove the small storage compartment located behind the handbrake lever.

At this point, locate the handbrake cable with the corresponding nut: loosening this nut will make the handbrake softer, increasing its travel; conversely, tightening this bolt will reduce the travel of the handbrake, making it firmer.
