Toyota and Lexus Automatic Transmission Oil is Not Lifetime

The ATF-WS oil used in Toyota/Lexus eCVT hybrid transmissions is often referred to as "lifetime" by dealerships, but this is incorrect. Although it is a high-quality oil, it degrades over time and with use. Its function is to lubricate the gears and bearings of the Power Split Device, cool the electric motors MG1 and MG2, and protect against corrosion. The additive package depletes, and the oil loses its insulating and lubricating properties. Replacement is recommended every 56,000 miles, regardless of usage. The process is simple: drain the oil from the lower plug (with a magnet to catch metal debris) and refill from the upper plug. There are no filters to change. You can find the suitable oil from Motul on Amazon with code B00TYQ7EKK at a price of £19.49 per litre with free delivery. The colour difference between old and new oil is evident even at 56,000 miles. Use only original ATF-WS oil or equivalent specifications to avoid issues (e.g., gearbox failure).
