To open the fuel filler flap on a Toyota Rav 4, press the opening button located next to the driver's seat. If the flap does not open, press the opening button and insert a flat-head screwdriver or a key into the side hole of the flap to perform an emergency opening.

The cause of the failure to open could be the internal cable and spring. Replace the cable to restore proper function to the flap.

To perform the replacement, open the boot and remove the side cover to access the inside and extract the cable. Once the new cable is inserted and attached to the flap, the fuel filler flap should function correctly.
