This is because the turbo spins at 200,000 RPM and is lubricated only by a thin film of engine oil. When you abruptly turn off the car after an intense journey, the oil pump shuts down, the turbo shaft continues to spin, and the remaining oil inside overheats, cooks, and turns to carbon, which over time becomes abrasive, damaging the bearings and causing them to seize.
