How to Replace the Boot Struts

Today, replace the boot struts, a procedure used on many cars from various manufacturers. To replace the struts, remove the plastic covers near the fastening screws. Use a screwdriver to pry them off carefully. Support the tailgate or get assistance, and forcefully remove the strut from the retaining pin. The strut is simply clipped into a semi-sphere. Remove it from both sides. Fit the new strut by clipping both ends into the semi-sphere. Reattach the clips and covers both underneath and on top. Test the operation by closing the tailgate.
