How to Replace the Tailgate Gas Struts

Replace the gas struts that hold up the tailgate of your car. Here's how to remove them. Lift the tailgate and secure it with a prop rod (as you need to remove the gas struts). Using a screwdriver, remove the securing clips at both ends of the strut. Disconnect the worn strut and fit the new piece into the two mounts (on the bodywork and on the tailgate). Secure the strut with the metal clips. Repeat the same process for the removal/installation of the other strut. Test the operation of the new struts by opening the tailgate.
