Spacers are aluminium plates that fit between the wheel mounting surface and the wheel itself: since the track measurement is indicated in the vehicle registration document, altering it means you must be aware that you are breaking the law. If stopped and the Traffic Police notice the spacers and decide to measure the track, at the very least, they will confiscate your registration document, send you for inspection, and issue a hefty fine.

Additionally, they alter the steering response compared to factory settings, and never positively, as it changes the pivot point of the steering from normal.

In general, this is not a recommended practice.
