The joint may be secured to the driveshaft by a circlip or a snap ring; in any case, a rubber mallet will suffice to separate the joint from the driveshaft. Before installation, compare the two joints to ensure they are identical; replace the circlip, then fit the gaiter, place the joint onto the circlip, and push it into its seat; usually, the appropriate grease is included in the fitting kit; squeeze it into the gaiter and then secure the gaiter with the clips.
