How to Change a Driveshaft

In this video, you will see how to change a driveshaft: it is a component that transmits torque from the differential. The arrangement and number of driveshafts depend on the type of drive: front, rear, or all-wheel drive. Changing a driveshaft is necessary if a CV joint is damaged. You need to loosen the fastening element that connects the driveshaft to the wheel hub, but it may also be necessary to disconnect some suspension components. The CV joint may need to be removed with light hammer blows. The inner CV joint can be fixed in various ways: for example, it can be bolted to the differential flange, or it can be attached to the splined shaft that comes out of the differential. The video considers all the various options in detail for removing the inner CV joint and for installing the new one, repositioning the driveshaft on the opposite side, at the wheel hub. If the transmission fluid has been drained, pour in the new fluid (the vehicle must be perfectly level). Once done, you can refit the wheel and lower the vehicle.
