In this video, the YouTuber suggests a very simple system (although you need a basic understanding of electronics) to check if the coil (or coils) of your car is functioning properly. You will only need an inductive rev sensor and an LED, connected by a simple wire, as shown.

Start the vehicle, place the sensor on one of the spark plug coils, and observe that the LED lights up; this means that voltage is reaching it. It may not be as accurate as using an oscilloscope, but you will certainly be able to determine if voltage is present at the coil.
