To reset the "Service" light on a Volkswagen Golf, turn on the instrument panel without starting the engine. Use the controls on the steering wheel to navigate the menu on the multifunction display.

Press "Menu" and use the buttons to find "Settings". In the "Maintenance" area, locate the option to reset the "Service" light. Follow the instructions on the display to complete the reset, usually requiring you to hold down a button to confirm.
