Replacing the Timing Belt on a Volkswagen Polo

Replacing the timing belt on a Volkswagen Polo: lift the car on a column lift or jack (if necessary, remove the front wheel, using a screwdriver remove the right wheel arch liner). Once these operations are done, lift the engine bonnet, remove the soundproofing panel of the engine and the timing belt cover. Using the appropriate spanner, loosen the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off its seat (remove the pulley). Remove the water pump and replace it. After fitting the new belt, use the spanner to tension the tensioner pulley, ensuring the belt has the correct tension (previously fitted). Finally, check the tensioner and the belt itself, tighten everything with the socket.
