Learn how to change the engine oil and filter on a Volkswagen Golf MK7: start by unscrewing the oil filler cap (this will help with draining). If using a cleaner, run the engine for 5 minutes, add the product (such as Motul, which can be found on AliExpress with code 1005008545962366 for £23.29, free delivery) and let the engine idle for 10/15 minutes while stationary. Then lift the front of the vehicle and place it on axle stands; remove the plastic undertray, position a container under the vehicle, and loosen the drain bolt: let the oil drain, which you will dispose of along with the filter at an authorised centre. While the oil drains, unscrew the old filter, then prepare the new one by lubricating the seal with clean oil. Screw the new filter on until it makes contact, then tighten it half a turn. Replace the sealing bolt on the drain. Refit the undertray and lower the car. Pour in 90% of the required oil, close the cap, start the engine for 30 seconds to fill the filter, then switch off and wait a few minutes. Check the oil level with the dipstick and add oil until it reaches just below the "max" level.
