How to Check Fluid Levels in a Volkswagen Touran MK1

Here’s how to check the levels of the four essential fluids under the bonnet of the Volkswagen Touran MK1: start with the engine oil. The engine must be off and cold, and the car on level ground. Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a cloth, reinsert it fully, then pull it out again and check that the level is between "min" and "max"; it must never be above "max". If it is low, add a little oil at a time through the filler cap and check with the dipstick. Next, check the coolant level in the transparent expansion tank. Again, the level should be between "min" and "max", and adjust if it is low. Checking the brake fluid level is a delicate operation. It should theoretically never drop. If it is below the minimum, it means the pads are worn. Add fluid but plan to change the pads. For the windscreen washer fluid, fill the reservoir with a specific fluid, never with tap water, which clogs the pipes and damages the windscreen.
