First, remove the oil filler cap to avoid creating a vacuum when you remove the oil drain plug. Now, move on to removing the oil drain plug (place a container underneath your Volkswagen Golf to catch the oil). Meanwhile, remove the oil filter using a ratchet and replace it with a new one. After ensuring all the old oil has drained, you can refit the drain plug and proceed to top up with new oil.
