Before starting, park the car on a level surface and secure it, work with the engine warm and use axle stands or a ramp; protect your hands and eyes and prepare a large container, as the oil drain can be substantial. To access the oil sump, work from underneath and, if present, remove the lower protection by unscrewing the fasteners. Once the area is clear, position the container under the drain plug, loosen the plug and let the oil drain completely. When the drain is finished, clean the plug seat and close it using a good condition or new gasket/washer, tightening without forcing and following the manufacturer's specifications.
