When the oil warning light comes on in a Volkswagen Golf, it means that it is necessary to replace the engine oil and the corresponding filter. To replace the engine oil, open the oil filler cap located under the front bonnet and lift the dipstick.

Next, lift the vehicle off the ground and place a container under the oil sump; loosen the nut with a T40 Torx spanner and allow the fluid to drain into the container. Once the fluid has stopped flowing, close the nut, lower the vehicle, and replace the filter.

Complete the replacement by topping up the oil in the reservoir.
