Removing Door Lock from a Volkswagen Golf

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 5, Golf 5, Golf V - Years 2003-2008
Part: Door lock

Start by removing the side covers of the door, then unscrew the screws underneath and those on the inner side adjacent to the hinges and the lower ones. Now access the side hole to remove the handle retaining clip to detach it in two steps: first the fixed part, then slide the movable part of the handle and remove it, unscrewing the last screw underneath. Now you will be able to remove the entire side panel. From here, you will have access to the central locking wires which need to be removed along with the internal handle linkages. On the sides of the door, you will have access to the lock anchoring pins to be removed.
