Replacing Brake Pads on Volkswagen Lupo

Precautions: To perform this operation safely, it is essential to lift the vehicle. If you do not have a hydraulic lift as shown in the video, ensure you work on a flat surface, fully brake the vehicle, and loosen the wheel bolts without removing them while the vehicle is still on all four wheels. Then, raise the vehicle with a jack and proceed to remove the wheel. Required tools: brake piston rewind tool, 17mm spanner, 13mm socket/ratchet, flat screwdriver, wheel bolt key. Remove the wheel bolts and take off the front wheel. Grasp the brake disc and rotate the entire assembly so that the brake caliper is exposed. Use the 17mm spanner to hold the inner nut and the 13mm spanner to loosen and completely remove the two pins that secure the caliper assembly. Use the flat screwdriver to pry inside the caliper to separate the brake pad from the piston. Hold the caliper assembly with both hands and pull it towards you, exposing the two pads and the brake disc. Hang the caliper assembly on the shock absorber to clear the area. Remove the pads by hand. Refit the new pads. Unhook the caliper assembly and use the brake piston rewind tool, inserting it into the caliper and turning the handle counterclockwise. If this step is not performed, it will be impossible to reposition the caliper correctly. Once the pistons have been retracted, reposition the caliper and secure it using the 17mm spanner to hold the inner nuts and the 13mm spanner as before. Straighten the assembly by holding it with your hands and rotating it appropriately. Refit the wheel and tighten the bolts.
