How to Remove the Car Radio from a Volkswagen Polo

Removing the car radio from a Volkswagen Polo is a fairly simple task that does not necessarily require professional intervention. First, remove the plastic trim surrounding the radio; this will be clipped in place and can be pried off along the joint line around the outer perimeter of the trim. It is advisable to use plastic levers and/or protect the dashboard with tape to avoid unpleasant scratches. After removing the trim, you will have access to four screws easily visible at the four corners of the radio. These must be removed to allow the radio to be partially extracted from the dashboard. Once the radio is extracted, you will have access to the two power connectors located at the back of the unit, which can then be easily disconnected, allowing for the complete removal of the radio.
