Removal of External Mirror Cover

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 6, Golf VI, Golf 6, 5K1 - Years 2008-2012

Before proceeding with the removal, if the vehicle has been cold for a long time, gently warm the mirror with a hairdryer to avoid breaking the plastic clips. Adjust the mirror fully outward to create enough space to insert your fingers and gently pull it off; disconnect the demisting wires and remove it from its housing. Then unscrew the fixing screws of the cover and widen the plastic clips to remove it. It may be useful to remove the covers for repainting or applying adhesive films with chrome or carbon effects.
