Replacing the Ignition Switch on a Volkswagen Jetta 5

Model: Volkswagen Jetta MK 5, A5 - Years 2005-2010

First, disconnect the battery starting with the negative terminal. Open the cover located under the steering column and unscrew the Torx screw present there. As shown in the video, remove the plastics behind the steering wheel by simply pulling them by hand. Once done, you can access the two T20 screws located at the sides of the steering wheel and remove the lower part of the plastic behind the steering wheel. Using a screwdriver, unlock the airbag and remove it. Unscrew the central bolt of the steering wheel and remove it as well. Disconnect the two red and yellow connectors behind the steering wheel and finally, you can remove the ignition switch following the video procedure.
