Instructions for Removing Steering Wheel Controls

Model: Volkswagen Jetta MK 6, A6 - Years 2010-2018

To remove the steering wheel controls from the spokes of the steering wheel, you must first remove the airbag. Before proceeding, it is advisable to disconnect the battery. Next, locate the slots behind the spokes of the steering wheel where you can insert a screwdriver to lever and release the airbag retaining springs. Once released, pull it away enough to disconnect the connectors for the horn and detonators. With the airbag removed, you can proceed to remove the steering wheel controls by unscrewing the relevant retaining screws from the spokes and disconnecting the flat cable connector.
