In this video tutorial you can see how you can replace the timing belt on Volkswagen Passat 1.9 TDI by following these steps: first you have to open the bonnet and secure it with the special rod to prevent it from falling on you. Now you can remove the plastic protection that covers the timing belt now using a wrench you have to loosen the roller that serves to tighten the belt and slide the belt out of its seat. Now using a socket wrench you have to unscrew the locking pin of the roller. Now you have to remove the water pump from its seat. Now mount all the new parts like the water pump, the timing belt and tighten everything with the socket wrench.
