The headlining of your Volkswagen Golf 5 varies significantly in cost depending on the quality of the material and the type of damage. Purchasing the material from an upholsterer can cost around £100 to £150, while going to an authorised centre can increase the cost to over £300. In addition to the material cost, labour charges can also heavily impact the final price. Although replacing the headlining of your car can seem daunting, as this video demonstrates, by following the correct steps and using the right tools, a DIY enthusiast can easily do it independently! Start by removing the handles located at the top and the plastic inserts from the door pillars with a screwdriver. Next, remove the sun visors and the courtesy light cover. You will also need to remove the plastics on the sides of the rear boot to completely free the headlining carpet. At this point, gently remove it to avoid damaging the rest, insert the new headlining, and reassemble everything as before.
