Volkswagen Golf - Video tutorial

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 4, Golf IV, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003
Part: Arm
Operation: Drive shaft boot replacement instructions

In order to replace the drive shaft boot, the latter must be disassembled in order to remove and then insert the new boot; in this regard, it should be considered that there is a cover on the market that allows installation without disassembling the semi-shaft, known as the EASY COVER: it is a hood open along the axis and which, after being inserted on the semi-shaft, must be closed by applying the glue supplied. In any case, for the classic repair, lift the car on a stand, remove the wheel, the brake caliper, the nut fixing the axle shaft to the hub (knock on the axle before removing the nut), the head of the arm swing arm, remove the drive shaft and unhook the constant velocity joint. At this point, proceed with the replacement of the cap by removing the clamps; insert the new cover, fill the joint with clean grease and fix the cover with the relative clamps. Proceed backwards for reassembly.
