Instructions for Replacing the Driveshaft Boot

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003

To replace the driveshaft boot, you need to remove the driveshaft to slide off the old boot and fit the new one. There is a product available called EASY BOOT that allows installation without removing the driveshaft; it is an open boot along the axis that, after being fitted onto the driveshaft, can be sealed using the provided adhesive. For the classic repair, lift the vehicle on a jack, remove the wheel, the brake caliper, and the driveshaft nut (tap the shaft before removing the nut), the suspension arm ball joint, slide out the driveshaft, and disconnect the CV joint. At this point, proceed with the boot replacement by removing the clips; insert the new boot, fill the joint with clean grease, and secure the boot with the appropriate clips. Reverse the steps for reassembly.
