Replacing the gear knob gaiter on the Volkswagen Golf VI

If you need to change the manual gear knob on a Volkswagen Golf due to wear or to fit a more aesthetically pleasing one, you will need a flathead screwdriver and a plastic trim tool. Using the trim tool, carefully pry off the base of the soft gaiter at the base of the lever, taking care not to leave marks on the tunnel. Once detached, pull it up to cover the knob, revealing a metal clip that you will loosen with the help of the metal screwdriver. Now, firmly grip the knob and, pulling decisively upwards, remove it while gently rotating it on the lever's axis.
