How to Refill AdBlue in a Volkswagen Tiguan

The Diesel Tiguan has a separate AdBlue tank from the diesel fuel tank, as is standard with all Volkswagens. AdBlue is a chemical additive, known as "urea", which helps reduce harmful emissions from diesel engines. Regulations are very strict and prevent diesel engines from starting if the additive is lacking. There is a warning light that activates many miles before the additive runs out, allowing the user to refill it before it finishes. Some fuel stations sell urea alongside petrol and diesel. Alternatively, it is easy to obtain it from a car parts shop in 5-litre containers, which is usually the average size of an AdBlue tank. Refilling is straightforward through the blue nozzle located next to the diesel nozzle. Generally, the containers come with a special extension that facilitates refilling.
